Johanna Torres Chain
Welcome to my website! I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at the University of Minnesota, working under the supervision of Mariacristina De Nardi and Jo Mullins.
I am also a NBER Graduate Fellow (2025–26) in the Economics of an Aging Workforce, supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
My research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics, household finance, and public policy. My work focuses on long-term care, informal care provision, and health, with a particular interest in racial and socioeconomic disparities.
I use structural models and micro-level data to evaluate how social security and policy design affect economic outcomes, especially for the aging population.
